More car problems!

Came out this afternoon and my car wouldn't start. I turned it over and it went to fire up as usual then just died. Tried again, again and again but no joy. It wouldn't even turn over, every time i turned the key my my dials went nuts, my rev counter and fuel gauage were moving from side to side like mad but that was it. After a few tries it eventually fired up but sounded rough as hell. The whole car was moving because the engine was vibrating that much, it felt like it was going to die any second. I turned her off then fired her up again and suddenly she seemed fine and has been all afternoon. Its worrying after the problems i've been having recently and i haven't a clue what's up with her, especially with her not starting and all of a sudden being fine. I don't see the point in takingher to the garage because she's been once and they didn't know what the problem was, especially with it not doing it while it was there!

If anyone has any idea what the problem could be i'd really appreciate it! Worried it's something serious. cryb..

Makes me wander if your ECU is throwing a wobbler, especially as it only does it sometimes. maybe its getting a reading from somewhere that it does'nt like and happens to run rought as a result. Then you find you switch it off and on and thing is reset and runs ok. Unfortunatly an intermitten fault like this is difficult for a garage to find sometimes. maybe a good idea to write some sort of log if it does again. hope you get it sorted.

might be the alternator giving too much power dunno..

I'm pretty baffled as to what it could be. I've not had an EML for a while but i'm still having problems with her. I'm tending to think its something to do with the ECU but with it not having recorded a fault for a while i'm a bit stuck when it comes to finding out what it is. I guess i'll just have to see how she goes for the time being. 🙁

I'm gonna throw in a very random suggestion hear, I base this on experiance with an engine and obviously the way they are started..... KEY SWITCH !.
I have in the past not on cars! had very rendom faults with engine's running and with your dials doing what they are, wander if the keys switch is failing....but like I say, a stab in the dark for you. Maybe some guys with more knowledge on the veccy could either back me up with this theary on blast me out the water. dunno..

Thanks for the suggestion, an interesting one too! As i say, i haven't a clue what it could be so any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I often have to give it some revs to get it start recently and its always a little lumpy on start-up. Just so frustrating not knowing exactly what the problem is.
