Traction control light????

I was driving home tonight from work, the roads where wet.. When i got to one roundabout i put my foot down a bit to pass a vehicle..

I then noticed that every time i was pulling away or heavy throtling it in 2n2/3rd gears.. The traction light was flashing and i was loosing power as you do, But it didnt seem to be loosing traction notsure.gif

Ive never noticed this before???

So either:

My car has gained emmense bhp during the day @ work????
Or I have a sensor going maybe??
I have something severley slippy on my tyres? (Havent noticed anything and tyre pressures seem fine??

Just thought i would rack your brains.. Maybe this is common or maybe completley random? Im hoping the first option?

Might be the ABS ring on the hub. I think i've read about this before.

If i was to remove the fuse would this sort it what..

If you remove the fuse you will lose your ABS and your speedo.

But as its only the traction control that seems to be effected i was wondering wheither the fuse for that could be removed until i get the chance to get it sorted??

Or is the traction control fuse linked to the abs??

The Astra dosent have the slightly crude ABS ring like the vectra. The Astra uses the speed signal from the encoder in the wheel hub. Its posible that your just getting a slight loss of traction, might be worth waiting for a dry day and drive it again before taking any more action.

Also, the fuse for the TC on an Astra is number 23, I dont think it effects the speedo, but it does knock out the electric power steering, making it extreamly hard to drive, so i wouldnt go there.

Fair enought i will miss that one out then lol..

I drove it back today and it seems fine??? I will monitor it, something defo wasnt right notsure.gif

There seems to be a few differences on the wiring circuits between the Vectra and the Astra then.

But then we havent had a lot of rain here.. Im just happy it seems ok @ the moment..

Best thing you can do is switch off the TC, only need a switch £3 and one 2m length of wire.
With Toyos T1R and S on the front, i can spin them up at 45/50mph in 2nd in the dry, no cutting out or lag. Control the power with your boot.

Thats not a bad idea may look into that?? Or may even fit a switch 🙂

Ive had the TC light going in my Vec in 2nd and 3rd when its been heavy rain and I give it a bit too much of the right foot. Wouldnt worry too much unless it stays on
