Afternoon guys,
I've posted on here before a while ago with this problem but i've still not resolved it. I'd appreciate some more help!
I've got a 2.2 Astra SRi thats had a few modificaions, including the DBilas inlet manifold. I've had the car since May and have always had this problem and it is getting more frequent.
Basically whenever i'm pulling up at lights, roundabouts etc after having driven for say ten minutes or so there is what seems to be a lot of vibration from the exhaust, it sounds as though its vibrating against the underside of the car and the car feels like its going to cut out (or blow up!) This problem is especially worse after i've been on the motorway (or been tanning it) and have driven at a reasonable speed for any length of time. When i stop and turn the ignition off then on again there is an extremely loud noise from the exhaust on start up, as though load of air has been forced through the system and it bangs loudly on the underside of the car. Kind of as though its the engine thats doing the moving and making the exhaust vibrate.
I have had the EML light on a few times but when i got it plugged in at my local garage there weren't any faults recorded as by the time i got it there they had been wiped off (something to do with faults only staying for so many number of ignition cycles)
Occasionaly the revs will idle up and down and the car will cut out, this is usually when i get the EML light on. This has happened about five times in the 8 months i've had the car.
I have removed the EGR valve, fitted the blanking plate and cheater. I have also had the throttle body cleaned out and the exhaust inspected. Now, the exhaust is blowing slightly over one of the clamps and i'm going to fit a new clamp this weekend however i can't see this being the cause of the problem. Other than that the exhaust is perfect.
Driving round town slowly etc ther car feels fine but when its given a bit of stick or i'm driving at higher speeds it sounds a lot different and feels like its going to blow up! cryb..
I've tried to explain everything as best i can but its quite difficult! Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.
thanks.
