I have a 2001 sri 150 and about two years ago had a new engine fitted because it did the 'lack of oil to camshafts' thingy when the dodgy vauxhall oil filter broke down....
The engine was beyond repair and was replaced with a newish one with only 16k miles, it has since done another 30k or so and has been well maintained and run with mobil one.
The problem started this morning when returning from the school run i pulled away from a junction and started to accelerate when all of a sudden everything cut out and the engine warning light was on, so i pulled over and tried to start it again, it turned over but didnt quite sound like it normally does on stating up, but it didnt spin really fast as if the chaiin has broke....
The fuel looked pretty low too so thinking that it had run out i chucked a few gallons in then bled the fuel supply pipe at the schreider valve and had good fuel supply so cranked it again and still it wont fire up, no other warning lights showing and no flashing warnings.
I called out the AA and he plugged in his laptop, thinking it maybe a crank sensor, but that was giving him a crank reading ok, but no other fault codes, but also his laptop gave him a choice of vauxhall engines but no choice for the z22se so maybe there is a code but his system wouldn't let him read it.
I'm just about to take the rocker cover off to check the chain and camshafts first to eliminate any machanical failure and then report back, i would be ggrateful if anyone has experienced this problem before and knows of a fix for it....
Cheers
Mark
