faulty wheel bearing

I replaced the front wheel bearing but the abs ligth and the traction control light do not go off,
does it mean the new bearing unit is faluty?, or do i need to reset the computer?

the speedometer, odometer do not work, and now the engine light is on, should I be concerned about running the car like this? It will take a while to ask for a replacement of the part.

If I plug the wire from the old bearing, then the abs/TC lights go off.
The old bearing was making a pretty bad sound, which is now gone with the new one.

I´ve got the new bearing from ebay france, then it is not going to be easy to ask for a replacement.

Is it possible to use the old abs sensor with the new bearing to make a hub that will work?

N/S/f wheel bearing sounds like a duff bearing but carnt remember if u can take the abs sensor out ? i wud of thought u cud though is so try it ! it will not hurt anything by drive n the car ! just the abs will not work y the light it on !!

the hub/abs unit is a sealed item :roll:

check that the wires are still connected where they enter the hub, sometimes they get broken, to fix them cut away some of the resin and solder the wire to the wire stub 🙂

thought it was all in 1 couldnt remember i know they no cheep.

If the hub and abs sensor is a sealed unit, is it possible to use the old hub with abs sensor, remove the old bearing, and then put the new bearing from the new hub unit?

well I had to try and ask again, Im a bit slow and reluctant

I'll try to open the old bearing to see how the sensor looks like

Well you were right vocky, one of the wires was damaged, and I just had to melt the plastic to get to the terminal and weld the wire again. Now the abs sensor light goes off,

The bad news is that I pushed the brake with the brake caliper off, then I had to remove the pads to push the piston back, and now I don't know how to put the retaining spring back again.

it seems quite tricky, any suggestion?

just copy the otherside dunno..

I can't take a picture of my car right now , but I've used one from the forum showing the retaining spring.

Is there any special tool to assemble the spring in place?

clip the bottom part into the hole, fit the spring around the two lugs, and finally lever the top into the hole

a bit fiddly but quite easy after doing it a few times cheers..
