My love and hate relationship with my vectra

Tell me if iam in the wrong place but i cnt be the only one....

I love my 2.2 Vectra, she sounds good, drives well, handles like a dream, when u get in it u feel at home and safe and u just want to drive for ever....
So why when i look out of my window do i want to sell it, iam scared everytime i put the key in the chain will snap, i service it ever 4k and dont give it any welly when shes cold...i do look after it.

i cnt be the only one with this feeling...You only have to go on google and put in vectra 2.2 and u get loads of forums with everyone saying the same, my chain snapped with out warning...blah blah blah...is this because they dont look after them...i dnt no or is it because its a bad engine..who knows...me..i love it, vauxhall made a good, sweet engine..but mines still running sweet...who knows whats around the corner

hi mate, you can get the new chain kit fitted for £230 !! The slightly bigger nozzle that comes with the new timing chain kit is the cure for probable dreadful chain snap

But u read of ppl who have had this done and still snap...mines booked in for end of month so hopefully it will be done and will be ok

depends wot year ur car is mate after 02 or a late 02 SHOULD b ok black rocker cover got later mods on !!

the new chain should not snap, it's the small oil jet which causes the earlier chains to snap

get the chain kit replaced and enjoy cheers..

i no what u mean..one i read last nite reckons his had done 14k after it was repaired the first time i went again...if u service them surely it will be ok..my car has a small silver cover on the engine, and when u look at it u see a black cover with a sticker on it...but i wont take any chances..iam going to have it all done..chains x2, injectior...main dealer..400 quid...

true, i have seen so many cars that have not been serviced for almost 5 years !! Its like, 'hang on, it still runs, so why service?? ' . I ask myself, how can people neglect taking care of their cars....regular checks..servicing etc...

if u got plastic rocker cover under the engine cover u should b ok

my other half goes mad at me..iam always checking tyres, oil, water, bulbs...basic stuff...she says if vauxhall say it should be services every 10k miles y do u do it every 4k , some ppl dont under stand..Even the dealer laughs at me as i buy a filter ever couple of months.....

well if u did buy a filter every couple of months the b hav n the laughs wen u hav 2 book it in wudnt they !!! dont hurt it hav n clean oil i say 😃

I agree, nothing wrong in having clean oil. If I could, I would probably change every month .I know some vaux mexhanics who change oil + filter every month for their cars !!!

Mines had 2.5k oil changes from new 🙂
Engine looked clean inside when benny replaced its chain kit 😃

i would rather spend £50 or so every few months servicing than pay a wacking great bill in 1 go
