Lcd Tv's on the wall

My dog keeps going for my tv so I am thinking about putting it up on the wall. Now the problem I am thinking is all the wiring will be hanging down. At the moment I have 3 scart leads going into my tv and an ant lead. The wall my tv will be going on is a solid brick wall. It's a 40" tv that I will be putting up. Cheers for any info 🙂

**Solution 3 - Running Cables

Most people will choose to run cables through the wall, which is an excellent choice. Others might not want to start cutting holes in their walls. Instead, they would have a bunch of wires running up the wall, which is an unacceptable situation for anyone wanting a well-designed entertainment space. While running cables through the wall is a great visual advantage, it is a disadvantage because you will have to run a new cable up the wall every time you add a new device to the television. So, how do we hide wires running up a wall?

We can either place an obstacle under the television, which would look odd, or we can cheat the eye with camouflage. I have a friend who had this very problem, and his solution was to create a molding that would be used as a cover for his cables. He painted the molding the same color of his wall, and when placed over the cables it looks like part of the wall. Granted, it's raised about 2-3 inches off the wall, but it looks very natural. As far as supplies, small strips of wood (a 1x2 for the sides and 1x4 for the face) cut to the length of the TV to the floor should be enough to make such a piece.**

How do you lot hide your cables? I have a feeling mine is going to look like this..

Looks neat enough to me but how about making a fake chimney breast and mounting it in that plus if it was low enough you could get a fire effect DVD or an aquatic effect and play that when the TV was not in use that way it would be a feature in the room.

Looking at that picture above you could use a but of guttering (painted of course) and hide the wires in that??

The wall mine will be going on is a full flat wall, it's all flat. I like the idea about the fire effect as I don't have a fire in my living room. 🙂

You could still make a fake chimney breast though, was going to do that myself but got a gas fire in the room already might box it in and use the fish tank idea though.

How good are the brackets you get for tv's on the wall? I would hate it to fall off..

They need to be good Mark, as they take a lot of weight. You can hide the cables by cutting the wall out, and running the plastic trunking in there, and then skimming over.

When I get my new TV next month, it will be going above the fireplace, and all the cables will be run inside the fireplace (it's made of plastic and it's an electric fire)

Im waiting for a new 50" T.V at the moment ! I'm lucky as I can run trunking up the side of the fire place to where mine is going to sit. as for wall mounts etc, the cheapest I have found is this site.

When you fit one of these on the wall what the best location for it? Bang in the middle of the wall? I am just going to get a plastic cover like in the picture above and sit something in the middle to hide it, and paint it the same colour as my wall. I will take a look at those links for some bracket ideas. Cheers
