wheels offset wrong

hi guys
my wheels on the coupe are hitting the arches on the slightest of bumps or a few bits of shopping in the boot. i havent even got a spare whee cos ofit. the wheels cam fitted to the car when i bought it. ive looked on the inside of the rim and it says offset is 40. is this wrong for my copue and the reason they are hitting the arches.

the car is on standard suspensioN and 215/45/17 tyres.
your help is much appriciated as its that bad its pulled arches out!
Do i need new wheels or new tyres. cheers fellas

You may need ET44? ET40 isn't a million miles away from standard fitment.

is it hitting the arches or the arch liners?
Is its the arch liners can u get the arch liners rolled up slightly higher? This could help
I have similar problems when my car is filled with people !!
I have been told that rolling up the arch liners could be a solution. I am very bad at DIY, so I am looking for a garage that will do the job. Not in a rush, as I seldom fill my car with ppl

could it be the tyres are to tall for the astra and suspension is too soft. need to get this sorted soon. its hitting inside the arches and worn thru the arch liners. also as the wheels/ tyres have gone up in the arches and come out again it seems theve moved side ways and pulled the arch lip out bending it out but only on a small section.

Et40 should be fine on standard suspension surley?

you would think a 4mm diference wouldnt cause to many problems. can anybody tel me the proper tyre size. could suspension be shafted altogether and needs uprating and replaceing. thanks for help guys.

The standard tyre size on my se2 alloys are 215/40/17 My 19" alloys used to hit on the bolt at the top of the bumper in the wheel arch but that's also lowered?

tyre size is wrong, you need the 215/40/17 as stated above 🙂

the 215/45/17 is the vectra tyre size

I run 215\45\17 on the astra as i find it a nicer ride, not had any rub issues etc. How low is your car?
