bit cramped in the old vx220 engine bay,

throttle body off 😃

still not much room to move - there's my alternator!

finished (i was a bit cold at this point :lol🙂

took about 1.5 hours all in, including tea breaks 😃 I practically know how to do this blind now :roll:

i've still the ecu to fasten down. and the dipstick to mod but its all finished

got a few other little jobs done while i was there, then it started to rain 🙁

just for comparisons sake, its probably been done before but....

right i need defrosting ......

You haven't got a pic of the FPR mods that have to be made do you? I'm 75% through doing mine but have the last bit of pipework to sort out.

WEll done m8.....Now where have i seen one of them suppressors before??....lol.....

Looking at them pics,there seems to be alot more room to manovere the manifold than on the astra/vectra....

heh, i got a few of those supressors from ebay a while back 😃

yeah its not as bad as it looks for room, if you take the dipstick out and take the two studs out of the head, it all goes in and out really easy thumbup

just needs some gymnastics now and again :lol:

It's also alot easier once you cut the tie wraps underneath that hold wires to the manifold. I've noticed the ecu is sitting right up against what looks like a coolant pipe now. Is it likely to wear through with vibration? It all seems very solid but I'm not too sure.

Just got to get a valve with nipple and some longer piping and I'm done. Is that the 2.4 tb? If so has it thrown a wobbler yet?

yep i've done two now too, maybe another on the way 😃

the ecu is back in its old home, no pipes are near it - the breather pipe you see goes to my oil breather tank. Ill make the bracket for the ecu later

Ive not put the 2.4 throttle on, either till a remap or the bugs are ironed out - i've a set of green injectors too to go in as well,

heh yeah i forgot about those clips under the manifold - yes its easier once they are out of the way 😃

still working on a solution to the 2.4 tb 🙂

the resistance is different on each tb, so might be possible to add some resistors to compensate dunno..

'open + closed' throttle positions
pin numbers on tb plug

A-G = add between 300 - 600 ohms to wire G
2.0- 4.45 + 2.67 (reversed)
2.2- 4.12 + 2.23
2.4- 3.82 + 1.91

A-C = add none
2.0- 1.96 + 3.71 (reversed)
2.2- 3.20 + 5.10
2.4- 2.64 + 4.55

D-H = add between 170 - 480 ohms to wire H
2.0- 2.67 + 1.51 (reversed)
2.2- 2.36 + 1.15
2.4- 2.19 + 0.98

D-B = add none
2.0- 1.04 + 2.21 (reversed)
2.2- 1.77 + 2.97
2.4- 1.44 + 2.66

the 2.0 sc tb works ok

the 2.2 does too :lol:

the 2.4 tb - the ecu does not like it :?

the only difference is the resistance of the potentiometers inside the tb, so by adding a couple of resistors the ecu will think the tb is ok dunno..

are you sure you dd this right?

I just got ym supressor today and the red end is clearly labelled +12v and the black end is labelled EARTH - you've connected it the wrong way round?

also on another subject - what is the electronic device in the top right (above the big hole for the tb) - my 2.4 doesn't have one of these?! - just a hole there

different suppressors are wired different ways.

Luna_s has used a metal bodied item with bolts to the engine for the negative connection, he has then extended the wire to reach the positive - both the alternator terminals are positive 🙂

they could be wired either way as they are only a capacitor dunno..

the MAP sensor needs swapping over from the 2.2 to the 2.4 manifold cheers..
