i have now snapped mine for the fifth time right at the flange plate that bolts up to manifold.
engine mounts are fine and the only mod is a remus mid section,when it was fitted it pulled the system short,the back box dissapeared under the bumper and when cold hit the rear spring so i had powerflow chop a piece in.
the only thing i can think of is a bracket that clamps the pipe and bolted to the engine,same as a MKII cav.
so far warranty has covered the problem but now thats expired and VX dont wanna know.
im fed up with takin the thing off due to havin to replace the studs and nuts everytime,had a few studs snap ##.
has any one had this prob or have a remedy for sale?
oh and its a z22se vec b (51)

Hello mate. When this problem occurs its usually the gearbox mount thats gone. Not a very common problem. I've busted a few flexi pipes that go between the downpipe and the cat. Have you removed the precat? I have heard of people saying that the joint goes weak once the precat has been removed.

no mate still got the pre cat,the factory fit blew the flexi after i removed the pre cat so i bought a new one from vx,snapped that,then another after removin the pre cat,this one was fun takin back on warranty,managed to blag it as bro inlaw is warranty manager,got a new one,and so on until now i have done 5 pipes all in the exact same place,the top weld joint which has the precat in not the lower one where the pipe reduces,VX deny a batch of dodgy pipes and have had no reports previous to mine.the flexi problem is purely down to heat,as the pre cat is missin the heat is more intense also the airflow is not channelled thru the pre cat so gases tumble bouncin off the inside of the pipe until thru the cat,can also stuff the first lambda due to excess heat.
have you had to change your gearbox mount?is it easy?
i had to change a front mount which was leakin,that was easy.

I haven't had my mount done. The engine seems to move around like mad on the Vectra. It sits lovely on the Astra and VX220. I've been talking to Jon at Courtenay Sport about some kind of tie-bar for the Vectra engine.

Johnny,i got a bro inlaw in VX and he say he has heard of a torsion bar but has yet to see one,if i hear any thing i will tell all.

Right finally taken off the down pipe,that needs a bit of weldin to sort that, had a good look at
the rear gear box mount and it looks fine also looks a git to change.
So now im makin up a solid support bar to bolt onto rear of the engine and clamp round the pipe to make
them move the same,takin the tension from the welded joint onto the support bar and the flexi.
I hope this works and may take a while,will let all know.

So Vocky should i change it?i have one,but it do look a bit hard to do.
Still gonna make the support bar,got the back plate made just gotta make the bar and bend it so to clear the drive shaft to join onto a 55 mm pipe clamp.

they are a pain to change due to the rear bolts being a sod to remove :roll:

ive just had to change my downpipe, manifold and gearbox mount due to this proplem! its a nightmare....... nothing but problems with downpipes! hopefully all sorted now tho!

Did you change it all yaself?
