I was after a boring Diesel after selling my Astra sport, & gaining a family, saw the 2.2 with an LPG conversion on it and thought HEY!!!! best of both worlds.
........turned out the LPG was sha**ed, love the car though.

I returned from our honeymoon with a view to buying a Lexus IS200. I went to have a look at one and had a go in it. I had driven back from Gatwick in a Vectra SRi 130 and quite liked it and the Vectra was on my mind. I know some of you may think that there's no comparison in the 2 but i'm a practical chap who likes simple things and I couldn't quite get over the running costs and servicing of the Lexus and that was scaring me.

I drove past my Vectra 1 day after driving the Lexus and I turned around to go back and have a look at it in the showroom. I took it out for a drive and had it checked out by a friend at the local Masterfit centre and the rest is history as they say. So that was it, within 4 days of returning from our honeymoon I had a new car. It just felt the right car as I already had a Cavalier that Chris was driving so it seemed like a move upwards and onwards.

Finance finished on my 306 and also wanted a 5 door for the impending birth of my daughter. With Vec C prices dropping like hell I saw my silver sri with 9k on the clock and less than one year old going for 10k, went for a test drive, loved the feel and the rest is history

i had a 106 and wanted a new car so i had a few in mind either a mg zr 160 or astra coupe and with the security and other problems of the mg range i decided to go for an astra coupe 1.8 spoke to me step dad and he said bout 2.2 being a better engine and then went and bought one 8)

Mine was a pool car at work and they were "upgrading" them all to diesel Mondeo's and wanted shot of it. Offered them a grand and they said yes 🙂 bargain. Loved it ever since.

I was driving past the main dealers and decided to pop in and have a look, as soon as I saw the silver sri150 saloon I knew it would be mine.

my vx220 was similar, I saw the ad and knew straight away I would buy it 😃

Always liked astra coupe's, almost got a black one about 2 years ago and it fell through, had a 200sx in the meantime and i was having problem after problem with it so i thought id fork out and get something decent, had a look at golf turbo's etc but found the coupe section on auto trader and liked this one straight away with it being low mileage, one owner etc! did loaaaads of research (including off this site) then decided to buy it. Love the car, but i think i'll be getting something faster next year, astra vxr or another coupe but turbo. 🙂

I was at a used car dealer (Grrrr CARCRAFT) , test driving different cars. This Vectra was well out of my budget 3 years ago ( I was going to pay cash, would never want to buy a car on loan/credit) . I liked it. After 2 hours of Bargaining, yes 2 hours ( CARCRAFT prices are OVER PRICED, BECAUSE IT IS EASIER TO OBTAIN CREDIT) , I knocked the price down from £6500 to £4500, paid using my DEBIT CARD and drove away !! It was a Vectra 2.2 CD Xreg, with 71K miles then...

Although the car had given me loads of initial trouble, I love it now. CARCRAFT advertised 2 years warranty on their cars...BULL S**T. In the first 6 months, Front suspensions had to be replaced !! Vauxhall charged me £400 to fix some seal that was causing oil leak . Exhaust manifold developed a blow...timing chain was getting a bit noisy !! I know it was a used car...but for the price you pay, and the guarantee thats advertised....GRRRRR Their answer ' Sorry, the warranty does not cover wear and tear ' !!!!

I love it to bits now. I am planning on a Turbo Conversion @ £4700 (saving for it). My Mrs and my mates think I am mad, instead of spending so much to convert a old car, I should get a new car and convert that or get a turbo car !!

found mine by pure chance on an norwegian page. My brother is hardcore Opel/Vauxhall fan, and has been pimping out Corsa and Calibras. I've always loved the look of the Astra G coupe, and when I found the Bertone edition with 2,2l and that smooth interiour I immediately fell in love. Very next morning I rang the dealership and bought it.

Was looking for a vectra, fancied the one with half leather which was the 2.2... kept looking for a good one untill I got one, the rest is history 😃

Saw it on auto trader, with one owner and 16k miles on the clock.

Was all the way down in Blackburn, put a deposit on it, took a train journey down then across lol, had a wee look see bought it and drove it back 🙂

If only it wasnt green 😃

exactly a year ago today i was sitting at home with my hated £300 citroen xsara sitting in an insurance assessors yard waiting to be taken to the crusher in the sky, i do not need a car as i have 3 vans and the mrs has a reasonable motor but was doodling on ebay when bang !! - vectra SRI 2.2, 60K, FSH, star silver, X Reg, B.I. N of 2.5 K, couldnt resist it. Within the hour me and my mate were off on the 300 mile round trip to wales (from kent) !!!! Lovely jubbly new year prezzie to myself

had a brief incounter with an opel manta a few years back, and some of that character has worn of on the 2.2 Bertone coupe. I was fed up with only getting 36mpg out of my 1.4 polo, was looking for a car anyway to replace it and my silver coupe was sitting proudly at the front of a local garage forecourt, 03 on 56k. I'm used to running bikes - bandit 1200 and daytona 955, so I wanted something that was a sensible everyday car but with the clean styling and an engine and suspension which really compliment very well. It didn't need to be supercar fast but just be a really good 'drivers' car at a sensible price with enough oomph not to get stuck behind, well pretty much anything!!

The suspension is a little floaty if pushed hard on high speed corners and the mpg is a bit high but other than that it really is very very good.
