blackcdx i have inherited a 1964 renault r8, which i have been working on for the last few months(after it had stood in a garage for eleven years) . i have had to free up the engine as it was seized, but now its all back together i am hving trouble with it ticking over it will run for around five minutes and then just die, but will restart straight after . i have replaced the plugs points etc and even put a new distributor in now i am stumped, any ideas would be grateful
daaaaavek could be a problem with the fuel supply or possibly alternator/battery .. hard to judge from the other side of the planet but there you go.
vocky have you replaced the fuel dunno.. also points, condenser, plugs, leads, dis cap should be replaced might be a sticky flost in the carb or a blocked idle jet dunno..
blackcdx fuel has been replaced as was all ignition parts , my worry is the carb as i have not touched it as most parts are unobtainable and finding a replacement is like finding rocking horse poo!
