Any Electronics / PCB genius's on the board ??????

alright peeps,

ive got a lcd screen which to fit in the place i want to mount it (inside my MFD housing) ive have had to take the screen out of its original housing and there is a bunch of buttons on a seperate pcb that are joined to the main pcb by about six wires. as it gonna be in the dash im not going to be able to mount the buttons by the screen but gotta mount elsewheres. basically all i need is the on / off switch but 1, its tiny and 2, its in built on the smaller pcb.

so will get some pics done tomorrow of the wires and the pcb but is there anyone willing of i send it off to them to try and work out a way for me to bypass the tiny in built on off switch and work out a way to splice in a BIG on off switch that i can mount say in one of the spare switches in the dash.

the on off switch does not stay compressed so obviously it just send a message to the main pcb saying turn the unit on ????

any thoughts anyone ????

you should be able to do that, it sounds like a simple push button

forgot to mention there is more than 1 button on the small pcb and not apparent which wire is for which switch and didnt get time to take some pics today

my headunit has dvd facility but no screen so just brought a 5 inch tft which i am going to mount in the MFD housing and position (as mine doesnt work anyway!) - just though it would look "factory"

anyway was looking at it today and may be able to extend all of the wires and mount the small on off button behind the clock adjust switch button but not really sure as yet til i get the dash out whether it will be possible

was a bit eager with the dremmel today so need to sort out another housing - dremmel + grinding stone + idiot user + plastic = small fire and melted unit !!!

just extend the switch from the pcb 2 wires
unsolder switch, put wires in switch holes, re solder switch to new wires gluegun the new switch where ever
these Tactile Switches are available with a button length of 0.5mm all the way up to 9mm do you have an old pc case there should be one in the front of it..
