0 - 60 ?

I am just curious how much time does it take achievce 60mph on flat , straight road. I was reading parkers gudie online and my Vectra B , CD 2.2 ( 2000 yr) is supposed to do it in 8.2 secs and top 135mph and 144 BHP ( standard, not taking into consideration any modification).

I am sure my car does 0 - 60 a lot quicker than 8.2secs , going to check that out soon...have you timed yours? if so, could you post the time taken and the car you drive pls....thx..

mines around 8 seconds completely standard but me personaly i dont think the car is built for quickness but mid range has a hell of a kick

By the book mine should be 5.6 but I find that a bit optimistic. Along with the Milltek, 2.4 mani, remap and ITG airbox that is on it now I'd like to see VXL's prediction!

Mine was timed at Bruntingthorpe (slightly uphill for those who don't know the straight) with 2 people and 3/4 tank fuel at 6.8 seconds. Track Dry, ambient temperature about 8 degrees!

6.8, I know it had fuel & people on board but i thought it would have been quicker than that? Are not standard times taken with 2 people and 1/2 tank fuel anyway.

Still a quick time i would have thought it would have just been quicker? Is this ok time due to traction?

0-60 times are all very subjective, but I am happy to offer the car up for sacrifice again if someone else wants to have a shoot out on a track somewhere 😃

Most manufacturers/road test 0-60 times are done with no mechanical sympathy to the car/engine/gearbox and usually the clutch isn't used to execute gearchanges to shave vital 10ths off the time. I do not drive my car like that, as I don't want to shag the gearbox for one thing. I'm sure most other people wouldn't want to either. Also track temperature (bear in mind it was November and track temperature and ambient temperatures were cool) and Bruntinthorpe is slightly uphill. I still think its a quick time when compared to other cars out there.

Quite often is it difficult to replicate a manufacturers 0-60 time on the road. The car was timed using a Performance Box datalogger, so not 100% acurate but pretty good. One 0-60 time in isolation is not really representative. To give a fair representation you need to compare like with like - so a selection of cars timed at the same place, same time, same conditions.

Irrespective of how quick or slow a 0-60 time is, 50-70 in 3rd is a far better measure of on road useability so it 40-100 in 4th.

Anyone who's been in the car will verify it is quick! Especially when it is put up against a standard or tweeked 2.2 showo..

I do not doubt by any means that your car is a slow car and I also agree that 0-60 is not a good judgement of a cars capability. I also fully understand that you can never get 100% accurate times etc due to timings gear conditions and that you didnt want to damage your car.

I am sure your car would blow any 2.2 or tweaked 2.2 away, in all fairness though it should seen as it was running 245bhp at PVS before your recent mods.

I feel that the standard 2.2 or even tweaked 2.2 is not a fast car by any means.

I just thought with the spec and build quality of your machine it would have been quicker then 6.8 that’s all.

In comparison My GF ran her 172 at the French car show last year and got 7.3 and that is standard apart from exhaust.

I am not going to start going OT by stating X car is faster then X and no I don’t want a race etc and yes I am sure the timing gear was out at the French car show etc.

I look forward to seeing the car and maybe having a passenger ride in it if we get the RR day sorted in the new year.

I would really like to compare it to my mates New S3 for power delivery etc.
