Hi all,
I'm getting close to getting some spare time at last. Next year should start a little easier. Anyway, the reason for this post is that I've managed to get a spare boot-lid for my VX...
If you know the VX boot-lid, the front half covers the engine bay and the back half covers the actual stowage area of the boot.
My intention is to cut-away all of the front area except for the very edge of the lid and the front hinge bit. I'll then bond some carbon-fibre rods down each side to give the edge a lot more strength. The nett result is a lid that covers the boot but not the engine.
I shall then cover the obvious hole above the engine with some nice carbon-fibre wide slats that go up the inside of the buttresses of the VX body. mounted so that they are hinged just below the top-panel that sits over the roll-cage, and latch into two hooks fitted to the boot-lid.
To lift the boot-lid now, all I need to do is to pull the boot-lever, the lid will pop as usual and release the slat-panel so that this will hing up out of the way before lifting the stowage area lid.
This mod will not only look good, but will mean I've got a LOT of space above the engine that I'm building for some serious induction!
