Hmm.... seeing as the exterior of the mitek and the std box are about the same and also stainless it may be better to do use this as a starting point as you can pick them up pretty cheap.

I was going to sell the milltek and mod my standard backbox (which is sat in my shed) but I wanted to see what a milltek looked like inside :lol:

plus I like the tail pipes and they are actually bigger than standard :shock:

welded up the nearside section, refitted the 'wire wool' to the new perfed section, fitted the lagging and then fitted that section into the outer skin - not an easy task :roll:

next fitted the offside inner plate, more wire wool and finally the lagging - much easier this side 🙂

fitted the offside outer plate and then welded the ends back on followed by the mounting brackets.

final job was to weld a sleeve to the inlet pipe so the U bend can fit snug.

refitted the backbox and U bend and started it up :shock:

sounds about the same on tickover, but 'pops' on over run when revved :lol:

so I finally have a full 2.5" exhaust system 8)

I can't see why it should dunno..

it says nothing about cutting it up and replacing the pipework in the small print pmsl..

Perhaps keep gas speed up and improve cylinder scavenging, not a problem on bigger pipe long as you lag the exhaust to keep the heat in n therefore the gas speed up. Kudos to Vocky on the work cheers..

it is to lower the restriction caused by the backbox design 🙂

the inlet pipe stops at the first chamber, this creates poor flow, so having an extra pipe helps the gases reach the second chamber a little easier.

there was no room for an additional pipe to the last chamber/ outlet.

ideally the pipes should all be connected with bends, but the angles are too tight

500-1000 miles of town driving to bed in my kevlar clutch, total so far = 32 miles 🙁

it sounds better, 'pops' on over run, but every time I accelerate the clutch slips (kevlar clutches do that until bedded in)

How do the pipes stay where they are in the sleeves? welded? wondering when i put it all back together again.

they were tack welded by milltek, so I tack welded them again cheers..

it's quite a sturdy design, when all the pipes are fitted they won't move 🙂

Vocky since you have ripped the guts out of a perfectly good back box 😃 could you please tell me the exact diameter of the original pipework going IN to it please.
