bleeding the power steering.

Can some one clarify the bleed procedure on power steering pump? cheers.

jack up the front wheels, start engine, turn steering wheel 'lock to lock' a few times

Thanks for that Neil, that was one of them brown trouser moments.... :shock: the pump was cavitating, buy the time I had gone down after leaving first message message it had bled itself. before I left the message i had turn the steeing etc etc. all is correct now and working fine. thank you. 😃

they tend to make some horrible noises with air in the system :?

When I done mine I didn't think to jack up the front until 10 minutes after! notsure.gif

I jacked it up drained the reservoir, removed the pump unit, cleaned , replaced seal, refit in reverse order, then topped up reservoir and started....... then it growled at me and growled at me and guess what it growled a bit more, all the time I was turning the steering lock to lock. in the end I turned it off come in side had another quick read and posted on here again.buy the time I had gone back down and started the car again the air had bleeded and all was quiet... yippeeee. had a road test and all was greet. cheers.. A QUICK MENTION AS WELL fitted the EGR cheater today which has worked fine, so a big thank you to Vocky... cheers..
