Hi there,
In 1987 in Australia the family II engine was fitted, in 1.8L (18LE) form, to Holden LD Astra's and part of the badge wars era Nissan N13 Pulsar's built in Australia and exported to New Zealand. I am currently rebuilding a 1.8L 84.8mm bore x 79.5mm stroke with 86mm bore and 86mm stroke using a crankshaft sourced from a C20NE equivalent in Australia. I have got to the decision making time, what pistons should I use as I am building this motor to suit turbo? Getting hold of C20let pistons in Australia isn't proving to be easy or cheap. I have found a supplier with C22se pistons to suit Holden/Opel/Vauxhall? Vectra that seem to be what i'm after at the right price.
Can anyone tell me, as they are listed as both having a compression height of 30.40mm measured from the pin to the piston top and the same 21mm pin height, would c20let and c22se pistons interchange and retain the same or very similar deck to piston height.
From what I can work out the difference in stroke in the c22se block is made up in height of the block being taller, the rods being 148mm instead of 143mm and presumably the crankshaft being a little taller in the stroke.
Any advice would be appreciated. The more research I do the more i'm tempted to buy an Astra or Vectra and mod it up.
