2 veccys 1 wont start and i broke a plug off the other one

hi all I am doing a veccy up for my friend, I have put a supposed "good" secondhand engine in, checked and checked all plugs and i am sure there all ok, when i try and start it, it seems to fire once as soon as key is turned then it just turns over and does not attempt to fire! any ideas? second car is one i am doing up for myself, i bought it with the cam chain gone, the problem i have with this is i managed to pull the wires out of the cam position sensor and i want to solder them back in, does anyone know which wire color goes to wich side of the plug, i dont want to blow it up!!

Did you keep the original Ecu or did you change it? Is the management light flashing at all?

yeah all the electronics are the original, ecu, injectors, inlet manifold etc etc. the only thing used from the replacement engine was the crank position sensor, the sensor next to it, and the small coolant temp sensor at the back, all other electronics is original to the car. the management light stays on as starting is attempted but does not flash.

I would do a compression test on the none starter notsure.gif

as for the second car, the z22se does not have a cam position sensor, some pics might help dunno..

sorry i ment the crank position sensor its the one just above the starter motor nearest to the flywheel end of the engine

best to buy a new one, they are quite cheap 🙂

ah but its not the sensor i broke, its the wiring loom, i now have 2 wires where a plug should be, lol i just need to know which way round to solder them back to the plug

so the colours on the wires are brown/green and brown? and where is the red / white you refer to? looking at the plug its just black with no indication of colours on it, neither does the sensor.
