pre cat???

hi all new to the site. ive seen on the site things about pre cats. does the vectra c 2.2 sri have a pre cat??? (before i start taking my exhaust to bits) if it does and i remove it what kinda power gains am i looking at?

elo, it probably does but im sure someone will answer u shortly,

i gained 6 hp & 2 trq, with pre-cat removed, remus center, performance BB, bmc cda.

you wont gain that much but you will definately notice a differencem more responsive low down and more ability to rev more as the gases can get out faster....

the early z22se engines did have a precat, but then they moved the main cat up next to the manifold :roll:

mine vecy is the 2.2 sri non direct, 2003, 53 reg. do you know if that have the pre cat?

precat is a quite small and the main cat is huge, so have a look at the manifold flange and see what size the pipe is dunno..

it will look like the various pics in the precat removal threads 🙂

Im sure our dosnt mate, I looked into it. As vocky said the cat isnt under the car but right up the bulkhead next to the manifold.

so if you had a new downpipe made up with the cat under the car you could free up some power dunno..

does removing the pre-cat void you of the MOT?

the precat is only tested in Hong Kong :?

it is designed to make the main cat warm up quicker, only required at first registration in the UK, then not required.
