Info on coolant header tank needed.

Hi all, newbie here, just purchased a 2.2 vx220.

The coolant expansion tank on it has been degraded by UV so i purchased a new one from vauxhall, went to fit it this morning only to find the new expansion tank doesnt have the hole at the bottom for the sensor to fit into. Obviously i have been given the wrong part (the tank is identical other than the absence of the hole) but i am wondering why this tank doesnt have a hole for the sensor in???

Anyone any ideas?

the expansion tank is actually from an astra 1.6 :roll:

so they have supplied you with a LS model instead of a CDX model version :?

it's basically the same but without the coolant level sensor fitting :roll:

Ah right, so is the part number the same for these 2 different tanks then, or was the tank labled incorrectley?

Vaux are ordering me a new one anyway so hopefully this will be the correct one!

coolant expansion tank

Helo all,
i have just been into the stealers this morning to try to get a new expansion tank as i have the same problem with my vectra b expansion tank. the plastic is completely opaque and you can only really get a level by taking the cap off. obviously not ideal.
the dealer looked on the epc/ipc and came up with this number. 90542964. this is different to the others that are mentioned here so if some one could clarify the correct number it would be great. my car also has the level sensor built into it as per the previous post.
also on a different note which is the correct antifreeze to use on this engine as i have read a few different things about it & is there a specific vx version and number/cost/mix.
i had posted previously regarding this (bluey/green coolant presently) .but i just wanted to clarify as if i am disturbing the system i will replace with new coolant.
i have read so much and as far as i was aware/concerned coolant was coolant and as long as it protected against freezing/sludging of the system then job done,
again anyadvice guidance is greatly appreciated,
