Air recirculation broke, what to check?

Not sure if its ever worked on this car dunno..

The switch lights up when you press it. Just cant hear the flap moving or that tschh sound when your turn it off.

Tried leaving it on in the rain and the car didnt mist up, and ive tried it on a few air flow directions.

Which vacuum connection does it use in the engine bay?
Or anything else i should check?

check the join below the egr valve hasn't come apart dunno..

the vacuum feed is the small black pipe which comes from near the brake servo and goes around the engine over the gearbox and to the side of the inlet manifold :roll:

Its still connected to the inlet okay, and the rubber join was intact. Now i know thats the correct pipe ill investigate it a bit more thoroughly.

it goes under the scuttle trim and then inside the car, check inside the car to see if it's connected, take the glovebox out and I think you can see it notsure.gif

or it might connect under the scuttle panel, I can't remember :oops:

It seems to up the side of the cabin filter housing, then disappears behind it. Couldn't find any splits or worn through parts in the engine bay, The join was covered in power steering fluid, so i gave that a clean and reconnected, ill see if its made a better seal. Otherwise ill have the glovebox out this weekend 🙂

You could try a mitivac on the pipe and see if it looses vacuum??

Fixed this today finally, had the scuttle panel off while routing bits of xenon loom into the cabin, there was a black plastic box right up in the passenger side corner with two pipe connections and two vacuum pipes laying next to it disconnected, joined them back on and it works again.

A bit odd really...

Chances are this vacuum box might been disturbed if a new screen has been fitted.

Dont think its had a new screen, no receipts for one anyway. Its had a sheltered life, almost all vauxhall service history and its had no recalls added to it, ive only just rolled it over to 21k miles and its a Y plate :lol:
