I fancy a Superchip now instead, whats the best kind to go for notsure.gif . I don't want a re map as I was warned today not to get one, as the Ecu is sensitive what..
A 'Superchip' is a re-map mate!!!!
This is where people get confused.
At one time upgrading your ECU meant physically introducing a chip to cars engine management computer (usually refered to as 'piggybacking') which would involve soldering and tracking.
With todays modern technology it is possible to manipulate the ECU via a PC.
When you go to the 'Superchips' dealer what they will do is lift the panel facia underneath the handbrake where there is socket that allows them to interface with there PC and allow them to down load the software. This software is pre-programmed and is the default for ANY 2.2 Z22se Astra.
This is why they are described as 'Generic'. They will then power run it and depending on who or how good/honest the garage/tuner is will either give you the true read out or the one supplied with the 'Superchip' software (typically it will SHOW 10BHP increase!).
A custom re-map is more involved and allows specific mapping to individual modifications.
Hope this helps!!! 😃
