egr and engine management light..help!!!

hiya..i bought an x reg astra 2.2 sri 2 weeks ago,,,when i had test drive the engine management light was on..was told be put thru new mot and sorted out and it was..had the car drove 60 miles and engine managemnt light come on..took back and put on fault finder and was showing egr valve fault code.was reset and computer said no fault found.took away and same thing happend again.reset again then 60 miles same fault.car supposed go in thur for egr valve to be took off and examined or replaced.today give the car bit stick and the light has gone off...dnt kniw why???could it have beenm sticking and bit of a thrash freed it up>? dont know wether take car back in now if stays off...any ideas? .

The EGR valve can stick, the chances are if its starting to stick, sooner rather than later it will stick again.

The good part is, they are cheap to buy and so easy to replace.

You can also remove the EGR valve, buy a blanking plate from Vaux for £3 and get a small circuit from Vocky on here for £10. The car does not need the EGR valve, it is only there to allow less harmful emissions into the world!

as above, fit the blanking plate and an egr cheater, job done cheers..
