Temperature - Is this safe?

Ok was in heavy traffic today and noticed when still the temp went upto about 92, just wondered if it's safe? goes down to about 80 once driving etc..

I'm always paranoid about the temp as my last 2 cars have had major overheating probs lol.

shiuldnt go that high as the fan should kick in at 90 and bring it back down. correct me if im wrong guys

Mine doesnt seem to go higher than 90.. But i maybe wrong??

Perhaps a different thermostat fitted?? Could be the problem

In traffic that would be as high as I would expect it to be. As long as the fan kicks in aronud that temp then you'll be fine.

Mine has occasionally pipped just past 90, usually in heavy traffic with the A/C running.

yeah it was heavy traffic.

Fans cut in, it goes below 90 then obviously after 5-10 mins it rises again.

Seems fine when driving so i think i'm just being paranoid lol Thought id check anyway.

Having only owned a vauxhall for two weeks i wasn't sure........

My last car was overheating between 90-100 degrees which ended up with the headgasket going, so i didnt know if vauxhalls were any different, funnily enough that wasnt near the red either.

Does it really? My 1600 sits bang in the middle most of the time, and just tips over the 90 mark in traffic.

Yep, goes just below that aswell if i'm on the motorway. May get a lower temp thermostat at some point if i can be bothered.

i thought normal running temp was 90 degrees anyway??

Pic of it just below 80, that was driving down a dual carriageway this afternoon. as i say, runs really cool when driving.
