EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
Its a system whereby unburn't gases are passed back thru' the engine via the air inlet. Every so often and you wouldn't know it, the ERG valve opens allowing hot gases into the induction system. As we know, the engine produces its best performance from cold dense air. From talking to Jon Shield at Courtenays recently, i've been told that they monitored the air intake sytem temperature and when the ERG opened, the air temp went up by 50` Degs.
The EGR cheater allows you to remove the EGR valve from the engine completely and all pipe work. The cheater works by fooling the ECU into thinking that its still there and working.
If I remember correctly, this was first done to get over paying out big money for a new EGR valve when they stopped working.
