You will have a pre-cat mate, you can count on it unless its been removed already. Pre-cats are there to meet Euro emmissions standards at the date of first registration. As soon as you drive your new car away from the dealer you can remove it. The pre-cat is set directly behind the exhaust manifold outlet. It is here because this is where it first gets very hot and the cataylist can start to do its work before the main cat gets upto working temp of about 700 degrees. On short trips the main cat would never get hot enough to work on the emmissions effectively, so the pre-cat takes care of this. And don't worry about MOT time because the testers let the cars get upto normal temp. before checking emmissions.
