ebay dispute (alloy wheels)

right i need some advice

i won these on ebay

my friend lives near the seller in scotland so i got him to collect and pay for them, he kept them at his house till my parents visited him and brought them back for me , i got them at the weekend, my first reaction was they were more marked than he said (i had a telephone coversation with him also), but after giving them a good checking over i found this damage to the inner rim of one of the wheels

i took the wheels to an alloy wheel restorer(romax uk , stockton) he took one look at this wheel and said it was unrepairable and shouldnt be fitted to a car it should be scrapped.

i had 2 options email the seller personally or open an ebay dispute, i emailed the seller asking for a refund before showing him the pics (copy of email)

i recieved the alloy wheels at the weekend and after an initial check i found one of the wheels badly damaged (see pics) on the inner rim, ive had the wheel checked by a reputable alloy wheel restorer (romax uk, stockton) and i was told the wheel isnt roadworthy and isnt repairable and it should be scrapped. Im dissapointed about this and im looking for a refund for the wheels , ive contacted you first hoping we can sort something out before opening an dispute with ebay, obviously that would affect your feedback, you have good feedback so hopefully this was an oversight.

hi there i showed ur friend all the wheels he said they were fine and i had them on my car there wasnt any problem with them so i dont understand what the problem is with them and i dont think there will be a refund it was up to the person to look at them and he did when i was there my gaffer will confirm that cause he was there

where do i stand on this i very little ebay experience , my next step is a dispute but im not sure what will come from this

any help or information would be greatly appreiciated

You can tell there was a problem with that alloy by all the weights on it, to try and balance it out. You can try and let ebay know they are damaged goods he sold you. One problem is you paid cash, so getting money back might be harder as Paypal payments are better for getting money back with issues like this. Someone else might be able to help you out a bit better. Good luck

Bloody hell Dave! You need to file a dispute with ebay. As Mark has said, you'll probably have no joy with a refund unless there's some kind of fund within ebay that deals with this sort of thing??

You must report to ebay though. The other route is to take civil action. That could drag on for ages. You really have had some bad luck with this mate.

I've just read the ebay auction page. The bloke is a C**T! "someone put holes in his tyres??", I wonder why??

I brought a vx220 alloy of ebay once which was described as good condition, which turned out
to have a flat spot on the inside edge which wasnt on the listing.

Seller refunded payment probably as i payed through paypal.

not sure if you could get away with telling him that it fit for purpose and one thing on your side is that it wasn't mention on the ebay advert, false advertising etc..

Sorry but paypal wont do jack shit as you payed cash so the transaction was not covered. I know its a bummer but i would put it down to experience and buy some new ones. Either that or go round and kick the shit out of him!

i would file a dispute and try and get your money back the seller describes the alloys as " great condition " this is clearly not the case, " false advertisement" as you can clearly see the alloy is bent. the bad thing is your friend completed the transaction and did not check them over properly this goes against you becuase the deal has been completed. the long you leav it the worse it gets

or £120 is £120 just rite if of as expirence and do things your self next time

or if you dont get nothing back for them just sell them seperatly

ive been in contact and he has said he will refund me all the money we are just discussing how im going to get the wheels back up to him, well spotted sri_150, ive looked at that pic loads of times and never spotted that.

quick update i sent the alloys back to him by courier,at my cost (£25) that was my choice though and he has agreed to send a cheque to me in the post , so im just waiting for it to arrive!

john ive got faith , hes a regular ebay seller and i would get his account closed down if it doesnt come

Ill keep you updated but just in case ive still got some bbq lighters left over from summer in my shed.

blow torch and a copper mallet work the dent out of one of my old reno 19 rims ut it was not as big as that dent

the cheque has landed and it is in the bank im just waiting for it to clear.

its cost me £25 to send the wheels back ill take my medicine and learn my lesson from it!

That's a result... The wife had a similar dispute over payment of an item and it took a lot longer than this to sort out..
Dilema is, do you leave negative feedback as the items were not as described, or positive in that the seller honoured his buyers wishes.?!
