Swapped to 100Amp alternator - battery light flashing

I fitted my 100Amp alternator and new belt and have finally got round to driving the car home.

However, the battery light is flashing, it goes off mainly at very low rpms with not much vibration and flashes very quickly at high RPMS. My initial thought was it was the battery terminals which never got very tight on the new battery, so I now have new battery terminals too.

I am hoping it is going to be one of the two connectors on the alternator which is not tight enough! I don't think the belt is slipping as the belt is pretty damn tight. Any ideas?

it's a pain to check the terminals, but it might be a loose connection dunno..

mod the 2.4 inlet manifold and use the 120A dunno..

Buy a new one from a parts factor useing your faulty alternator on an exchange basis.

Swapped the regulator from the one on my original alternator and all is sorted 🙂

The guys at the Auto-Electrics place also said the suppressor isn't really needed on it either, unless it effects your radio reception you can ditch it.

Most of the people I spoke to have said the same thing about the supressor. bit of a pain in the arse to get to once its all on though so I put one on to be on the safe side.

What do you mean Lightning I think the alternator probably did come with a supressor am I right??? notsure.gif Just my Dad was saying the same the only reason it would need the supressor is for the sterio something to do with noise coming through the speakers so am I right in thinking there is a suppresor on the alternator allready by VXL??? dunno..

Yes Alan the supressor is already there. Its integral to the altenator unit. Have a look at the thread that Daz has started called Its on now 2 and you'll see the new supressor that he's fitted.

Thanks Johnny I we thought that but we weren't sure it was just on Lightnings thread it doesn't say why you need to replace the suppresor if it allready has one or do you need another one sorry guys confused about this??? notsure.gif ... cheers..
