6 speed??

Anyone attempted this yet or know that it can be done. Just spotted an F40 from a 150cdti vectra with slight damage to the casing. Is it just straight in and on job?

OR if not what do i need to be looking for?

I was speaking to Ian redgrave at Midpoint garage in cheshire about this the other day, He reconed it would probably drop straight in! Cable control too so no probs there. MIght be worth speaking to him about it?

If it matched the same its game on. The only thing i could think would be wrong would be bellhousing shape (although vaux tend to make there block and bell's the same) and the gearlever, ie reverse being in the wrong place and what av ya.

I don't think the cdti box will fit, it's the starter motor which has to be in the correct position :?

I will check on my cdti tomorrow and see where the starter motor is dunno..

seriously, the starter motor is on the back of the engine / gearbox so is no good for a z2.2se

plus it looks like the box is different to vauxhall gearboxes (the cdti is a Fiat engine), might be why only the cdti has the F40 box dunno..

ps: I know exactly which boxes do fit, but until I've found one I ain't telling :lol:

Well i was guessing at the one fitted toi late astra Turbo or the saab box. But have been thinking last night that things may change so ill hang on.

Must have been talking about a different box then. Ill have to ask next time I see him. I'm sure there is a 6 speed that will fit though, I'm sure he weighed up putting it in his and was only put off by the cost of it.

a clue to which car has a 6 speed box, mine is coming from this 2007 2.2

not cheap :roll:

but it is a 6 speed box which is almost brand new and I have yet to find a crashed 2.2 being broken for spares, as I said 'hens teeth'

HI a 6 speed box really would make the 22, main reason being motorway cruising revs are too high and fuel consumption is bad because of this!! I mean the 22 will pull 80 say at 2-3000 rpm it doesn't have to be revving so high!! Gaps.
