the egr system.........
starts at the exhaust manifold, hot gases are sucked into the egr system when the egr valve is open, they go into the inlet manifold via the egr pipe and end up back inside the engine.
I can read your mind..........you are correct...........exhaust gases are not good for an engine :roll:
Blanking off the egr valve stops the exhaust gases from being sucked away from the exhaust, so the egr pipe has no purpose (except keeping air out of the 2.2 inlet manifold)
the 2.4 inlet manifold has no opening for an egr pipe, so the egr pipe can be removed (as it's not required to stop air from entering the 2.4 manifold as there is no egr take off)
