Well, that's good news I guess. 6 months back I had a blowout on the motorway in the car I'd bought a week earlier, and then realised I couldn't find the key  I had to limp it to the next exit, and I just couldn't find any way to get the nut off with the tools we had at the side of the road. In the end, me and my dad managed to change the tyre while the wheel was still on the car showo.. Total nightmare.
Unless the garage has one of those screw-on nut removers or you really really trust them i'd be very scared about letting them get the nut off. After my issues I've heard a few methods of getting it off:
My Local: Weld an allen-key on - With NO protection for the alloy. Thats what they were going to do when they broke my wheel nut key on the VX220.
Quickfit: On the Passat they said they were going to undo the other 3 bolts then pull and hope the bolt sheared.
Other one I asked when the Passat wheel went: Use a chisel to dig in and try and turn it.
I'd say pretty much all of those are going to damage your wheel, and i'm not sure if any would work... I tried drilling my nut out, and gave up after 5 titanium coated drills melted - even with cutting compound. Yours may be different though. If you have a mate with a welder i'd try welding a socket on - at least then you won't get splatter destroying your alloy.
