Porting and Flowing tb

How much difference would it make if i port and flow my throttle body, without doing the head?

Is it worth doing now knowing i'll eventually do the head in the future?

Wel worth the effort in my eyes done mine and seems a lot smoother and more resonsive give it a go!!

Sorry to steal the thread, but do you need powertools to port the tb?
If I have it off and give it a polish in the right places, will that make any difference?

I used my dremel with sone of those sandpaper heads to remove the aluminium. Works perfectly.

I also changed the throttleplate, to give it sharp edges.

All changes in total seems to have it flow so much better I now get P1514 when I use this throttlebody 🙁

Would like to only try and change the throttle plate if I had another spare TB. I think that would be the trick to get the engine to pick up faster. Made a HUGE difference, throttle response was MUCH faster.

I use a drill and flap wheels works a treat and finish off with wet and dry paper then T-cut.

Did mine today, has made the throttle really smooth and er, zingy! That the word I think best describes the response now! Thanks to those that posted guides which enabled me to do it!

For just a couple of hours sat on my kitchen floor, it is definately worth it! Had some music on, and I like polishing things, so I was dead chuffed with the results. I probably didnt do the best job, but the car now feels as quick off the mark with two people in it as it previously would do with one! And it picks up from lower down the rev range too, so all round im a happy bunny

some of the difference may also have been made by me clearing all the black crap off the inside of the tb too... Certainly worth the effort, the idle was at 2000rpm before the ecu settled down to 800rpm again!

must admit also i removed my egr pipe at the same time too?

No, i didnt knife edge the butterfly, stayed well away from that and the material around it after hearing horror stories about idle being at 2-3krpm! Just did the basics on the entrance and exit. I might take it off again and take some material off the butterfly pivot spindle thing, and get some flush bolts too. Pretty damn pleased with the result as it is though!

I was in the process of blanking of the egr, but one of the bolts sheared whilst trying to remove it (its stayed sealed though), so im leaving it till i think of a plan lol

Which bolt sheared off andyroo? one of the egr valve ones or one of the bolts holding the EGR valve to the head (from head to inlet). there are several ways to blank off the EGR.

One of the two that bolt the egr valve itself down, the same bolt i would need to bolt the blanking plate down... whoops

edit: it was the other end of the pipe that your link shows. Will i need to do the mod in your link for the fitment of the 2.4 manifold?

you just need to do or the other, removing the valve saves a little weight dunno..

If you're not confident removing the sheared bolt you could still do my way. But as vocky says if you remove the valve you would also save a bit of weight but you will need a Vocky EGR cheater. You will need to remove the pipe from engine to manifold to fit the 2.4 manifold

I think I'll drill the rest of the bolt out and put a new bolt through and a nut on the other side. I was just going to hang the egr valve off on one bolt for the moment till i can get my act together!
