adie2_2 Hi guys, I dont mean to be a "dingle" but ive been reading some threads about engine numbers and timing chains. my engine number starts with "TA" I think this is one of the later builds and may NOT require the timing chain and modified oil jet? if some one with some good gen on this let me know I would be greatful.I dont have any rattles etc from the chain but would like to estabish if I cheers.. need to be concerned with this issue. cheers guys.
vocky TA are affected, my vec B has a TA engine and that had the small jet all vectra B's had the small oil jet fitted 🙁
jamesjohn I would suggest get it fixed at the earliest before its too late...I was lucky, left it till last minute though. until the noise got very worse....One more turn of my ignition key and chain would have snapped and caused a lot of damage.......I learnt my lesson....
adie2_2 Cheers for that chaps, gutted im effected though. had price to day to repace it, found that its £400.00 fix, nightmare. i do feel i can do it myself, do you know where i can maybe find some diagrams of the engine and any list of tools i may need etc.?
vocky it's quite easy to change the chain, if you can change a cambelt then you can do the chain special tools = 24mm spanner for holding cams whilst undoing the bolt, 32mm socket for tensioner, torx socket set
adie2_2 Well 2 days ago i invested time and money and had the dreaded chain replaced! along with all the tensions and guides etc.basicly a complete kit. today I have thoughly stretched every part of the car and managed to cover 250 miles in the process. runs perfectly 😃 im a very happy man! your advise has been priceless, a little exspensive but well worth it. cheers cheers..
