are all z22se engines the same??

I was told by a guy when i enquired that as my car is an auto the engine is different from the manual, is this true? i would have thought all z22se's were that same, no matter what car from, i.e. vectra, omega, zafira!

Also can i take my enigne out of my car thru the top, the haynes manual suggests dropping it out the bottom but there is no way i can get the car that high, I do however have an engine crane.

It's only the gearbox thats different having an auto. I would think you could take your engine out through the top, thats the way I would be wanting to take mine out if I had to. Why do you want to remove your engine?

unfortunatly because its thrown a rod and destroyed the engine block, so i am after a short or complete engine as well, its just it says in the haynes book to take the diesel engines up and the 2.2 petrol down, taken head off already so that may make more room

the only cars equipped with the z22se are;

astra, vectraB, early vectraC, vx220, zafira

omega and frontera 2.2 engines are different and will not fit.

the vectraB has a different inlet cam, this has a hex drive to run the power steering pump.

this can easily be swapped between the old and new engine - if you have a vecB

I would lift it out the top too 🙂

a manual engine can be converted to auto with the parts from your current engine - flywheel etc

Hi - I had to remove the engine from my 2001 2.2 Vectra manual last weekend (timing chain guard failure). Despite the info in the Haynes manual, I separated the engine and box in situ, and just lifted the engine up and out. (room is a little tight and to enable me to move the engine off the gearbox shaft I found that I needed to remove the crankshaft pulley nut).

it would be brilliant if I could split the engine and box and pull the engine up, my car is an auto, does this mae it any harder anyone?

should be easier being an auto - no clutch to get in the way dunno..
