Hi, You may have seen a few of my other posts on this topic but basically my dads car started making a rattling noise between around 1500-2500rpm at standstill when you revved the car - Its a '53 plate 2.2 with 55,000miles.
I thought it was chain related, even though its a later engine.
I've recently found out that the car was fairly low on oil, i think he topped it up a fair amount.
I have since seen on here that this could have caused the big end bearings to melt and block up oil ways!
This noise has became a bit worse over the last few days, so if it is the bearings i cant see the engine lasting much longer!
Whats the best thing to do? Stop driving it then get it rebuilt, wait for it to blow up, get a seccond hand engine or take it to vaux for a new engine roll in drive out style?
Basically i need to know if its going to be a bigger problem and more expensive if we let whatever is going to happen, happen or stop driving it before and then what options we have!
Thanks in advance!
PS.. A pic of the car in question as im feeling sorry for it (from the z22se stand at pvs this year) 🙁 Is mint on the outside..
