Precat + 200cpi Modification Possible Problems

Hi Everyone
My first post so excuse me! 😃
As the title says I just got a Hoffmann Stainless steel front pipe with 200cpi cat, as someof you might know the hoffmann pipe comes with the precat in.
Now Ive been looking on the site earlier and ive found out by taking the precat out and by having a 200cpi cat the eml light is coming on due to the exhaust gases passing through too quickly.

Has anyone experienced this or not experienced this? in a similer way?

Not got the Hoffy but precat slung many months ago everything fine.
About 3 months ago i swapped the original cat for a 200 cell, still no eml.
The pipework looks pretty much the same as a std jobby inc flared out bit for precat. The only difference therefore can only be the cat.
Or is mine playing up with a sticky lambda.

My precat was removed ages ago and i fitted a 200cell cat a few weeks back...done about 700miles since and i havnt had the eml come on either

I'm guessing here, but I think that the reason people get an error code after replacing the cat probably has nothing to do with the cat itself, but with one or both of the lambda sensors. It is very possible they get damaged or are fitted wrong (using copper grease etc).

I've got the Hoffmann pipe and i've not had any lights recently. I've had the EML on a few times in the last 22 months since having a 200 cpi cat and precat removed. I've even got the O2 sensor fitted and it was still lighting up the EML.

Some people have problems and some don't?? Not much help I know but you've got the pipe now so just give it a go.

I Finally plucked up the courage and done mine today,
No EML yet but what a heck of a difference!
Dont know wether I done right or not but I reset the EM system and am now running the car for 30 miles or so for it to get bedded in.
Have I done right?

Looks like yours is a bit more expensive. The Vectra and Astra downpipes are different in the fact that the flexi pipe is in a different place between the two.

They are full stainless downpipes.

🙁 she wont let me buy that !! too expensive any way LOL 500 quid!!! Im looking ofr a stainless down pipe with no cat using the o2 simulator anyone know where i can get one made or buy one???

Might be worth phoning Courtenay and speaking to Mark Watts. He's just had a 2.5" downpipe fabricated for his S/C converted Astra. I'm sure the people he used would be able to help you out.
