electric_squid Hi everyone. Just got a 2001 vectra sri and its just had a new head and chain fitted (old head was cracked in No 4 spark plug hole). The problem I have is that the revs continue to rise (about 200-300rpm) when I press the clutch to change gear then after about 1 sec they drop back down again. Is this normal? Also when I let the clutch back out the engine jolts and Iam finding it very difficult to get a smooth gear change. cheers
vocky I hope they used a new gasket set dunno.. might also be the throttle body gasket or a pipe loose/ not connected on the manifold dunno..
electric_squid yep it had new manifold gaskets fitted. I know this for sure cos I fitted it 😃 could it just need the ecu reseting after the heads been changed if so how do you do it?
vocky thats good news then 🙂 it could be the ecu, just disconnect the battery for 20 minutes and then drive moderately for 30 miles or so 🙂 does sound like an air leak, but it could just be the ecu needs a reset 🙂
