Is diesel taking over?

Vectra-c.com did a RR day today at Mini Sport with a good range of lumps there (unfortunately no 2.2's)
Here's a copy and paste of the results.

Now forget about the big boys at the top with there 3.2's. Look at the torque the 3L cdti's are kicking out :shock: The 1.9's are all mapped or boxed the highest boxed one being #8 fitted with a ebay box (caterman) costing £63, yes thats £63 for an extra 43 bhp!!! Nutron did a second run with his box turned right up and ended up getting 225 bhp! So how does this leave the old petrol lump, is a diesel the new weapon of choice, 200bhp and 40+ mpg. This is why my next car is going to be an astra cdti, same power in a smaller car, it must go like stink.
So any of u guys thought about a diesel? Except 220 owners of course, the sound of tractors in an open top sports car doesn't really do it I think.

I've got a caterman on my 1.9 16v, it's still too slow :lol:

mind you it does annoy quite a few people when it passes them :lol:

it's not anywhere near my vx in the performance stakes, but quick enough for commuting 🙂

When i decided to drop my 2.2 i opted for the Astra 1.9 CDTi 150 as it was near as dam it on par with the 2.2 but with better fuel consumption. Not yet gone for a DTUK box as im happy as it is but you never know :lol:

get it remapped, much better than a tuning box 🙂

Regal do a BSR type unit for the cdti so you can map it yourself and return it to factory map for when it needs to go into stealers for warranty work.
