Well driving last night to a family do and some one drove into my car, and didnt stop.

luckily enough it has only smashed the wing mirror, i could not tell in the dark last night if the drivers window was star'd but in inspection this morning the glass is ok, it's just got mirroe glass stuck to it.

I now have no outer cover to the wing mirror and no glass, the base plate has popped back into place and afetr a bit of fiddling the motor now moved the base plate. So i may just get away with a cover and some new mirror.

Does anyone now the cost / part numbers for above, MK4 hatch Or if anyone has a old wing mirror knocking around??

One thing that has made my piss boil is that shards of mirror have scratched the paint all down the side of the door so some wetsanding and rotary action is required. :evil:

Why not buy a set of after market ones? M3 etc just that i supplied the mirror lens to a customer in the week £32.13 inc vat (manual mirror elec might be more as they are heated) then you will needthe cover and paint prob cost about £70?

I did think about it but i quite like the standard mirrors.

I was wondering if i could get away with just getting some glass from a halfraurds / motor factors? I know they are heated but all the wires just seem to go to the back plate and not the glass?

Other wise a scrappy may have one, Got to be plenty of MK4's knocking around.

As already said Si, thats shite mate! If we can get a new mirror, painting it won't be a problem

I've just bought a Mk3 passenger 'Manual' mirror for my Dad from Vauxhall and the unit + primered cover came to £63 thru' trade club.

It would be more expensive if not thru' trade club. That's the horror of dealer parts!!

Only £8.50 for 2 cans of spray paint for it though. 1 can of Champagne Mica Z489 and 1 can of Clear Laquer.

Small update, 2hrs of picking glass from the base, 1hr with rotary polisher so door looks like it was before and i have new glass in the wing , just need to get a cover for it now.
