The VX rebuild is well and truly underway now so I'm considering using the time the car is off the road to get some Piper cams as I'm changing the timing chain so I guess a swap will be relatively easy?

The thing is though, I've never driven a car with non standard cams (that I know of) and am wondering what actual effect they have? I know they produce approx 10bhp but nothing of home they effect the way the car drives, how it effects the power delivery etc

They'll be accompanied by a 2.4 inlet, ported 58mm TB, ITG, full race exhaust and courtenay remap.

the main thing you notice is it pulls better through the gears 🙂

only negative is the slightly lumpy tickover, which I quite like and sounds nice too :lol:

they are not that high a spec, only classified as 270 cams, it's the 300 spec which are a pain to live with :roll:

Is a remap essential with them?

mine took ten days, but if you ring them they can turn them around much quicker 🙂

I ran them for 4k without a remap, no issues at all 😃

standard are a very mild 244 degree :roll:

my piper were 266 degree 🙂

Are all piper ones the same vocky? Scholar engines are not far away from me and they do camshaft grinding, is it possible to give them the piper specs and ask them to do them for me? I've no idea what kind of work is involved in doing them and whether anyone can grind them given the specs to produce the same things?

piper did change the spec at one point, mine are 266 degree, but they quote 260 degree on the web site notsure.gif

I believe mine are the later spec dunno..
