Engine change from 2.2

I'm about to strip a 2.2 engine because of a snapped cam chain. As an alternative to a complete rebuild, what alternative engines are suitable for refitting, given I cant locate a complete 2.2 ?

Anyone fitted a 2 litre 16v, and if so how much pof a job was it ?

There's a chap on here and VVOC called Matt Bankier and he's fitted a 2ltr Turbo in his. Vocky will be able to give you more of an indication of what else is possible.

Just remember that even putting a smaller lump in your car will increase your insurance. Its still classed as a modification even if the 2.0 16v has less power.

you will have to replace the gearbox too, it's unique to the z22se :roll:

but plenty of z22se engines about, megavaux have three or four 2.2's breaking 🙂
