Another chain snapped

Hi folks - my son in laws chain has snapped (2001 Vectra sri),and the car is being trailered to me to try and sort. I'm hoping the head can be salvaged with new valves etc, but assuming the bottom end is ok, is the job likely to need the engine removing or is access good enough to do with the engine in place ? Thanks in advance for any advice !!

I manage to do the chain on the astra so i guess you would be able on the vectra.

I dont see why you would have to remove the engine so long as the bottom end is ok. The chains quite easy to work on with the front wheel off and the arch liner pulled out. Have a look at the pics in the chain cam section of the forum. Hope there isnt to much damage. Should be easy to do in the car the exhaust manifold is easy to remove and i don't think the inlet is much harder good luck with it and don't forget to take some pics they may help someone else out thinking of doing the same.

the head may require new valve guides :roll:

what you need to check is the piston damage, the vavles can squash the piston rings and cause excessive exhaust smoke 🙁
