i went to start my car yesterday morning and i didnt turn the key for long enough for the engine to fire up.there was a loud bang and a funny smell of burning like an electrical component had shorted, i checked under the bonnet and underneath and i couldnt find anything, i got inside and checked everything was working then i fired it up drove to work and no problems at all , but im puzzled what this noise was. also since it has happened my car is driving very smooth my friend thinks the cat has coughed and cleared itself out is this feasible? could the cat be knackered but would it put a engine light up on the dash.
has anyone else had anything like this or any ideas
