Ported Throttle Body

I'm soooo excited, mine has just arrived from Vocky.

Can't believe the quality, I just wanted to lick the inside to even try and find some rough spots (which of course there are none).

I'm going to fit mine later, as I'm supposed to be at home working today :roll:

Couple of questions

1) Best place to get a panel filter from (cheapest most reliable delivery) probably looking at a K&N as I find the pipercross unnecessarily loud.
2) Is the Vectra C mod only for Astras?
3) Are there any exhausts I could put on that don't look or sound much different from standard but still help with breathing? I'm not keen on noisy stuff, as I do a lot of motorway driving and the sound of a performance exhaust at speed would give me a headache.

I need to look at removing the pre-cat next, definitely not a job for me that one, I'll find someone who can do that.

Not sure where to get a filter from, as I've had mine over 3 years now, but the Pipercross panel filter is totally silent in the standard airbox.
Vectra C mod is for all cars
As for the Exhaust, try a Remus centre section, as it keeps the silencer of the rear box, but frees up exit of exhaust gases.

Also, did vocky stick his signature on the bottom of the Throttle Body??

Cheers for all the above. I'll consider the pipercross then, based on price. I had a Pipercross induction kit on my Cavalier and it was loud!

I had a pipercross induction kit on my 106, and as you said, they are bloody loud. However, the panel filter is nice and quiet.

LMF or Roadrunner for the filter, LMF have a great track record with me for delivery, usualy next day.

I couldn't resist it.

I've just been out and fitted it!

So easy I can't believe it! Didn't even need to remove the whole intake pipe, just the bit connected to the throttle body.

However I do appear to have a similar problem that other owners have reported, there was a small well of oil in the inlet under the throttle body. It does use a bit of oil but not a vast amount.

Here are the pics of the old throttle body. Sadly didn't get one of the oil in the inlet

Took it for a blast up the road after warming up and it does seem to accelerate more smoothly also it seems to hold the power better between gears.

I've got a picture on my PC upstairs of the new one which we fitted to Sjdickso's Astra. I'll dig it out later unless someone beats me to it.

Nice mate, another little mod to enhance the engine..
Bluese2 - LMF only sell k&N filters for astra, best place for the piper is where then???...roadrunner??

But which is cheaper???...i need one as ive done all my mods but still running the standard one, which hasnt been changed in 3 yrs, so probably strangling some decent airflow.

Well I've just put my deposit down for the inlet manifold and now am thinking that a ported throttle body sounds nice.

Is this a diy job?

What sort of gains would you expect from it?

I would say it was a DIY job if you take your time, don't expect great impressive gains but the car will respond much better and there should be no flat spots so well worth the effort in my eyes.
