Hi folks, new to the forum so first of all hello to everyone!
Anyway, onto the topic at hand. I bought an Astra 2.2 Sri (2001) about 4 months ago and i've recently been having some problems over the last couple of months.
The main one is when i've been giving the car a bit of a blast, or even when i'm sitting at about 100 on the motorway, when i pull up at a junction for example after coming off the motorway the exhaust sounds like its vibrating like mad on the underside of the car (i think its the exhaust), it idles high and low slightly and its as if the car is going to cut out at any moment. In fact it has done on a couple of occasions. If i keep the car revved at about 1.5k the vibrating noise stops. The exhaust noise seems to change too, it seems a lot deeper and the engine seems to vibrate a lot more when i'm going at a reasonable speed on the motorway.
Also, usually when i start the engine up it idles at about 1k then settles down to about 500 but on occassion, especially recently, its idling at about 1k but fluctuates slightly and not settling down. Is this normal?
I bought the car off Steve W, he used to post on here some time ago and the AstraOC forums. Its got the Dbilas air inlet manifold and a few other mods.
Hopefully i've described the problem accurately enough for someone to understand. I've got very limited knowledge of cars!
