I have the same issue from work, there appears to be a lag on one of the hops on the Virgin Media network. Only happens during peak hours. It's fine on my connection from home.

Hi Matt yeah i am must be a problem at their end notsure.gif
wotsthestory I work for a Large IT Out Sourcer that also supplies comms to companies. Our connection today was slow, but to other sites also. I'd be sitting waiting for the homepage to draw! I can't have that .....
Matt It's gone really crappy at work for some reason, so I now connect to me PC at home to browse the web with (and that way they only see a connection on port 22)
wotsthestory I do a very similar thing ...... I use gotomypc.com though. Used to have a linux box hanging around and tunnel through SSH but I now use that, it means I can run the windows download apps from my desk at work and things are waiting for me when I get home ...... Bri
Matt Thats why I like my linux box, check my thread in the PC section about using NoMachine. Just like being sat at home, downloading and browsing the web.
wotsthestory Cheers, I was thinking of putting in another Linux box anyway, what Distro would you suggest at the moment? I know everyone has a personal favourite ... Bri
Matt My personal favourite has always been Fedora. They are on Fedora 7 at the minute, and it's such an improvement on the last one. A lot of people like Ubuntu for the ease of use, but I much prefer Fedora, as have always used RedHat at work.
