Yes Andy you could, basically that is the same as your motherboard raid card, apart from it's just a PCI card. That may be one solution by buying the card or similar.

Like DBcoupe though i would prob forget the SATA drive and just run the IDE drive and maybe get another?.

Are you using a wireless keyboard andy? I would try f12 and also del, or does it say bios setup on the splash screen by pressing f2 ??

yeah Simon i am using a wireless keyboard, and oddly enough i have only had trouble getting into the BIOS since i started using it.

it says BIOS is F2, eject drive F3 and boot order F8.

Yes i have also had issues in the past getting into bios's with wireless keyboard's it may be worth pluging in a ps/2 / usb one if you have one.

As the pc is in the proccess of booting it hasn't yet powered the keyboard and enabled the wireless reciever

well i got my old keyboard out and got into the BIOS straight away lol.

what do i need to look for?

IDE configuration then look for your sata HD and change it to IDE. BUT if xp is on that drive (as Sata) once you boot as an IDE drive, it wont be recognised, you will have to reinstall on to it.

ok, went to ide config and then entered into sata 0 as that was for my HD and i had the following

hard to tell from that but i would guess there is an option to force it to IDE instead of auto?

ok just gone into the BIOS again.

on the IDE HDD Auto detection i can only hit enter, this is gor detecting what drive is connected to that port. any other ideas notsure.gif

whats that in english lol?

under access mode there was a few options but all were letters. don't remember them exactly but think 1 was LBA.

i'll reboot again and take a pic of it.

the intel matrix link you posted will work with certain types of chipsets, these are what control the sata drives on the motherboard, but there are quite a few different INTEL ones.

in device manager click on storage above system devices that will tell you the chipset controller.

This is what you need to be looking for in the bios (or summat similar)
