hi guys

i got my chain done at 103k and now its 110k i have not had a prob since 108k it sometimes made a noise on cold start ups so i gave it an oil change and everything good until now. it makes the odd noise on cold start ups and i have made sure the oil is still topped up to the brim.

just wondered if anyone can shed some light on this as it really does me head in.

the oil that i used was 10-40 part synthetic

is there anything i can do to make it stop doing this noise as it sounds like its jumping a tooth or something i am not sure though as i am not technical minded.

also for got to mention that my exhaust is blowing from the manifold a little bit, a theory of mine was becuase its blowing and sat all night this could be letting more moisture into the engine and causing it to do this? notsure.gif or am i just talking bull haha :?

most likely is the exhaust manifold cracked :roll:

easy to check the manifold just remove the heat sheild usualy cracked between 3-4 cylinders

also shed any light on the chain cheerz?

new manifold is under £100 from the dealer

the noise is probably a sticking hydraulic tappet, don't worry unless it gets worse

new chain kit should last 100,000 miles easily 🙂

What would cause a sticking hydraulic tappet? notsure.gif

not sure why, some last forever others play up.

you don't need to change them just because they're noisy, they will be fine for quite a while
