Last Saturday my Vectra 2.2 16v cut out shortly after starting and wouldn't start again.
It had rattled a bit but as I had only just moved slightly I thought I must have just stalled it. When turning the key to try and restart it just made a whizzing sound (I'm now guessing it didn't throw the starter properly?)
Anyway being an early Z22SE I assumed the worst, cam chain failure cryb.. . I left it at work as I didn't have time to mess around and they were locking up.
Yesterday I got it recovered to my house, my brother suggested tyrying to start it as we hadn't confirmed chain failure and ,if it had, I had nothing to lose as i had already tried previously. I agreed and gave it a go. For the next trick it actually started :think I turned it off pretty quickly though as it sounded very rough chugging a bit and rattly.
Surely if the chain had failed it wouldn't have started?notsure.gif
The car is obviously off the road for a while now (have a spare on loan) so I can investigate and hopefully fix it, but I'm now wondering where the hell do I start?
I think as a matter of peace of mind I will be changing the chain and oil nozzle kit.
Any help would be much appreciated, I need this done asap, this poverty spec Corsa is draining my will to live  well the lack of power steering is draining my strength at least anyway!
